What does it mean to be human and embodied as a female? Identity, purpose, and belief all flow out of our understanding of the creation story. Old Testament scholar and professor, Dr. Carmen Joy Imes joins us on our episode today to dig into the doctrine of the Imago Dei. Carmen emphasizes that every human being is bestowed with dignity and worth because we bear God’s image. As our Creator, we have a natural longing for Him, but we also have a desire to make an impact through our lives.
To truly understand ourselves as women and thrive, it’s important to understand our origins. By exploring themes from Genesis to the teachings of Jesus and how they impact our mission today, we can gain encouragement and insight.
Carmen (PhD, Wheaton College) is associate professor of Old Testament at Biola University. She is the author of “Being God’s Image: Why Creation Still Matters”, “Bearing God’s Name: Why Sinai Still Matters”, and “Praying the Psalms with Augustine and Friends.” Carmen loves helping Christians discover God’s grace in the Old Testament by writing, speaking, and creating videos.
