Blue Ridge Christian Union Church in Shelbyville, Indiana is the recipient of Revitalize Network’s 2020 Rural Church of the Year Award.

Blue Ridge is in a rural part of Indiana. Pastor Brandon Sutton grew up in the region, and knew the church would be tough. Everyone told him not to go. God had different plans, and Brandon followed in obedience. He went back to the basics of teaching biblical truth and focusing on building relationships.

After five years of hard work, commitment to God’s plan, and endurance, the church’s identity was no longer defined by turmoil, and people started talking about the growth of Blue Ridge. When the congregation bought into the Invite Your One emphasis the church’s average attendance moved above 100 people for the first time in recent memory. The former struggling church of a few dozen has now grown to over 125 people in two services on an average Sunday.

Please pray for Pastor Brandon as he leads online worship services on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings, and online Bible study on Wednesday night. Also pray for the church as they continue to minister to their community and seek God’s timing for resuming in-person services.
