Pray for Chapel on the Hill in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin
Chapel on the Hill was established in 1980 with the land generously given to the church. Fifty years prior to this, the site had been home to the Lutheran Camp Augustana. The church incorporated with seven charter members as a non-denominational community church, calling their first pastor, Phil Barnhart and his wife, Sharon. They served Chapel on the Hill for 22 years. The following pastor, Bob Bardin and his wife, Sally, also served a long-term pastorate before retiring in 2016. Sean Walker is the third pastor in the church’s history.
Sean, called to serve as their third pastor, along with his wife, Colleen, is following in the footsteps of his predecessors by remaining steadfast and faithfully leading Chapel on the Hill. He is a native of Delavan, Wisconsin and holds a B.A. in Religion (2014) and an MDiv (2016) from the University of Dubuque. While in seminary, he served several internships in Janesville, Wisconsin, as well as Dubuque and Marion, Iowa. Married for 15 years, Sean and Colleen have five children. Sean has a background as an American Sign Language interpreter and enjoys many activities including golf, tennis, racquetball, swimming, pyrotechnics, and the fine and performing arts.
Chapel On The Hill sits between two lakes on a spacious campus which also contains a parish hall, a Christian Arts Center theater which holds up to 250 people, and a prayer chapel overlooking a beautifully wooded landscape. God supplied their needs through the financial generosity provided by many, including Dean and Lois Griffith before Dean went to be at home with the Lord in 2016. Pray with us that God will raise up new givers who will faithfully support the ministry in the years ahead.
Join us as we pray for these specific prayer needs:
-
- Pray for pastor Sean Walker and the leadership staff as they serve at Chapel on the Hill and lead the church into the community.
-
- Pray for direction and stability for Chapel on the Hill and for the healthy, long-tenure of their pastors to continue.
-
- Pray for growth as membership is dwindling and the financial burden from the large size of the property and buildings is high.
-
- Pray for a renewed focus of outreach among the members to go into the community surrounding their church.
-
- Pray for their recent ice-cream social and community event, that relationships will continue to be developed and spiritual fruit will come.
-
- Pray that Jesus will draw in the hurting, the weary, anyone who may be suffering from addictions, or those coming from a broken home.
-
- Pray that God will be glorified in the members of Chapel on the Hill and that they will actively take the gospel into their community.
