Founded in 2008 by the Snode family from the United States, Derry Baptist Fellowship has been led by Pastor James Wilson since 2013. Though originally from County Donegal, Pastor James has spent much of his life serving across England, Ireland, and abroad. His passion is to see people come to Christ, leaders equipped for ministry, and new churches planted throughout northwest Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Rather than gathering in a permanent church building, Derry Baptist Fellowship follows a New Testament model of being a community of believers. The congregation meets in rented public spaces, including Sunday worship at the Verbal Arts Centre within Derry’s historic city walls. Throughout the week, the church ministers through Bible studies, prayer gatherings, children’s and teen ministries, discipleship, coffee mornings, youth clubs, community outreach events, and neighborhood evangelism.
The church serves a diverse congregation from across the city and the international community. Derry is a predominantly Catholic city with a long history of political and religious division, making faithful gospel ministry both challenging and deeply needed.
Pastor James, who serves as a single pastor, asks for prayer as the church prepares for its August Holiday Bible Club/Vacation Bible School, September International Sunday, and ongoing outreach efforts throughout the community.

- That many people throughout Derry would hear the gospel and place their faith in Jesus Christ.
- That God would provide a permanent city-center facility that would strengthen the church’s ministry and outreach in this historically significant community.
- That the Lord would raise up additional laborers and develop faithful local Irish leaders for the work of ministry.
- That God would give Pastor James wisdom and open doors as he seeks to plant a new church in County Donegal.
