Pray for Fairmont First Baptist Church in Fairmont, North Carolina

Fairmont First Baptist Church was founded in Fairmont, North Carolina in 1792 in the first pastor’s blacksmith shop. Today, the church is located at the corner of Main and Church Streets directly across from the town hall. Fairmont is a rural farm town of about 2,700 that has seen a huge decline in the last 20 years. 

The church is currently engaged in a project of revitalization. Pastor Carter McNeese has been at Fairmont First Baptist for a little over two years. Prior to his arrival, the church went through an almost 6-year interim period. The church called a pastor, but he died after a short 4-month tenure. Without focused leadership, the congregation became inwardly-focused, and they are having to rediscover and relearn that the mission of God is about going and doing.

Before COVID, the church was slowly starting to reverse their downward trajectory and were experiencing growth. Please pray for the members of Fairmont First Baptist as they spend 2021 focused on getting out into the community and sharing the love of Christ with others.
