Pray for Greater Friendship Baptist Church in Anchorage, Alaska

Greater Friendship Baptist Church was founded in Anchorage in 1951, thus becoming the first African American church in the state of Alaska. The founding of this church planted the seed for other African American churches in the state. In addition, Greater Friendship was the first African American church to affiliate with the Southern Baptist Convention.

Today, Greater Friendship is a multicultural church that loves and embraces people from all walks of life. The church is in the process of rebuilding their membership after the previous pastor’s departure. Please pray for the congregation as it heals from hurt and pain from the past.

Pastor Michael Bunton has served as the senior pastor for the last 6 years. Please pray for him as he celebrates his seventh pastoral anniversary the first week in November. Also, pray for the leadership and congregation to have a spirit of unity and love as they enter their next season of ministry,

Please join Greater Friendship as they pray for God to provide them with a new building and people to serve in several ministry positions including a media director, IT director, youth director, worship leader, and musicians.

Please join us as we pray specifically for:

  • God to heal past hurts and pain within the congregation.
  • God to provide a new building and people to fill vacant ministry positions.
  • The leadership and congregation to have a spirit of unity and love.
  • Pastor Michael Bunton as he celebrates his seventh pastoral anniversary and leads the congregation into the future.
  • The city of Anchorage, Alaska.
