Pray for Old Samaria Baptist Church in Batesburg, South Carolina
Old Samaria Baptist Church (OSBC), located in the rural outskirts of Batesburg, SC, established in the late 1870s as Samaria Baptist. After a new Samaria Baptist was built in another location, some members remained in the old building and organized as Old Samaria Baptist in 1969. The original sanctuary, built in 1877, has undergone additions over the years, including recent updates, and continues to be in use for their weekly worship services.
H. Barry Anderson served in lay ministry at a sister church for over 25 years before coming to OSBC in the early summer of 2017. By the end of August, he officially became their pastor, receiving his ordination in October of that year. Barry came to Old Samaria with a heart for people and a passion for sharing the Gospel. This change in career came after serving with the West Columbia (SC) Fire Dept. for 32 years, retiring as Chief. Pastor Barry recently celebrated his 46th wedding anniversary with his wife, Cindi. Barry enjoys woodworking in his spare time.
Old Samaria will be celebrating their Homecoming this weekend, making the timing of this Prayer Spotlight especially meaningful. They currently have between 7-9 people in their Sunday morning Bible Study and 12-16 in their worship service. Please join Barry and OSBC in prayer as they seek to grow while engaging their community.
Join us as we pray for these specific prayer needs:
-
- Pray that God will bring OSBC families with godly men and young children as they reach out to those in their community.
- Pray for Pastor Barry as he leads and for his wife, Cindi, as she supports him and as they both serve faithfully at Old Samaria.
- Pray for those who will be attending Homecoming who have ceased to attend church, that their hearts will be rekindled by the Spirit.
- Pray that the current members will be active in the ministry of the church.
- Pray that God, through their efforts, will raise up leaders within OSBC who are eager and equipped to serve.
- Pray that their regular attendees will commit to become members in their church family.
- Pray that the members of OSBC will begin to understand what biblical church membership entails, embracing their role in church growth and evangelism.
- Pray that they will be the disciples and the church that God intends for them to be.
