Pray for Sower Church in Lincoln, Nebraska

Sower Church, located in the heart of Lincoln, Nebraska, is a church of about 300. Being centrally located in Lincoln creates an opportunity to reach students on the campus of the University of Nebraska (Lincoln) as well as the large population of young professionals and couples in the area. Sower Church has a growing college ministry called Christian Challenge, a unique ministry serving three different college campuses across Lincoln, NE. 

Four elders, two of which are bi-vocational, make up a chief part of SC’s leadership (pictured above with one of their church planters, Derek Rempe). They include Dan Coke, Mike Whitney, Ben Lennander, and Shane Unger. These four, along with their staff and leaders, focus rightly on one of their core values: Community. Sower Church works diligently to cultivate a strong and unified community with their members. The majority of their church attendees are committed members of the church (around 65% of their total attendance are members). They are a multi-ethnic, multi-generational church whose highest desire is to glorify God and enjoy him forever by making disciples who are hungry for His Word. 

In the past year, they have sent two new church plants in partnership with other churches to reach parts of Nebraska and Kansas. Pray for the church planters and the health of these new churches, that God would richly bless them and strengthen them.

  • Pray for the desire of attendees to become members committed to the advancement of the gospel.
  • Pray for the continued growth and health of Sower Church and its members.
  • Pray that Sower Church will remain unwavering with their core values, especially community.
  • Pray for their Christian Challenge (college) ministry team as they head back to the campuses this year, so that they may effectively engage and reach the 26,000 students between the three college campuses.
  • Pray that more church members, who are college students, will step into leadership roles with a heart to reach the lost. 
  • Pray for the leaders and staff, that God will be honored and glorified in everything they say and do.
