Pray for West Side Baptist Church in West Columbia, South Carolina

West Side Baptist Church began in 1945 as a small Sunday school class meeting in a home. It did not take long for the small group of committed believers to begin seeing the need for a church on the west side of the city. They sent cards out into the community, sharing the progress of their meeting together as well as a challenge to those who would want to improve their spiritual welfare. 

Before the church started building, the land had been a cattle and dairy farm, donated by a superintendent of a local hospital. After growing to 75, they formed West Side Baptist, and the community took its name from the church. Shortly thereafter, they called their first pastor. As the church began to grow, God blessed and allowed the construction of the buildings necessary to meet the needs of the growing church. Their current campus includes a sanctuary, education building, children’s building, youth building, and family life center with a gym.

Ray Wrobel is the current pastor. He and his family have served there since 2019. He loves to emphasize application when teaching the Bible. When not ministering at West Side, Ray loves to watch sports and cheer on his favorite teams.

  • Pray for Ray and his family as they serve West Side and equip the members for ministry.
  • Pray for wisdom as they prepare next year’s budget and for God’s resources to fund it.
